1. What is an Off-Lease Computer?
The best way to describe an Off-Lease Computer is to use the analogy of an automobile. A buyer purchases a new car, via lease, for a period of time-usually 1-3 years. At lease end, having a lot of use life remaining, the vehicle is turned in, tested, cleaned and resold as a certified pre-owned vehicle. Similarly, a major US corporation purchases a new computer, via lease, for a period of time-usually 1-5 years. At lease end, having a lot of use life remaining, the computer is turned in, tested, cleaned and resold as a Certified, Pre-Owned Computer.
2. What does Certified, Pre-Owned mean?
As with an automobile, at lease end when the computer is turned in, a technician performs several operations. First, the machine is cleared of passwords that may have been used by the leasee. Then using special software, the machine is tested to certify it meets original specifications including processor speed, memory, disk storage, Input/Output devices (and screen performance for laptops). The hard drive is then reformatted and the machine readied for reload of the operating system.
3. Does a Certified, Pre-Owned computer come with a warranty?
Yes! First, we only deal with popular, high volume, name brand computers. After one of these units has undergone our technicians multi-step quality check, we're so confident of its quality, we provide a 6-month Gold Seal repair or replacement warranty against hardware failure.
4. How old is an off-lease computer?
Off-lease computers can be months (still carrying the manufacturers original warranty) to years old. It is our policy to offer only hardware that strikes an effective balance between cost and remaining use life. That is, we target to use hardware that will either match the remaining use life of key components of an existing network or provide a use life matching the buyers anticipated business need and growth.
5. What types of computers are available?
The best answer to this is all types: mainframes, mid-sized, servers, workstations, desktops, towers and notebooks. If the hardware is made, it's usually leased and therefore available at lease end. If you have a special request, please email us at or call Ken at 248-672-6191 to see if we can fulfill your request.
6. Why should I consider a Certified, Pre-Owned computer?
First, unless you're implementing a new application that requires the latest in computer technology, chances are your applications will easily operate on hardware manufactured during the past several product cycles. That is, if new computers are introduced about every 6-8 months, in all likelihood, your applications will operate on any hardware produced in the last two to three years. Second, with the availability of Certified, Pre-Owned hardware, you're able to leverage the needs of major corporations to your benefit by taking over, at a reduced price, the remaining use-life of the equipment they leased. And third, Certified, Pre-Owned hardware comes with a warranty.
7. Who buys Certified, Pre-Owned computers?
Companies requiring a volume of machines to upgrade workstations on a network. Companies that need a low cost laptop solution for travelers. Network support companies use Certified, Pre-Owned computers as a solution alternative for their clients. Schools use Certified, Pre-Owned computers as a cost effective solution for building or upgrading their networks and computer labs. Tutors provide Certified, Pre-Owned computers for on-line, distance learning. Add your application to the list. View some of our customer testimonials.
8. Can I mix Certified, Pre-owned hardware with new on my network?
Generally, yes. As long as all the components of your network will support the applications you're running, you should have no problem mixing Certified, Pre-Owned with new.
9. Can I get other Certified, Off-Lease hardware such as printers and monitors?
Yes. Like computers, major corporations also lease all types of components for networks. If you are interested in printers and/or monitors, please email us at or call Ken at 248-672-6191 for availability and pricing.
10. Will Corporate Off-Lease Computers help me configure my network using new and pre-owned components?
While our primary product is our line of Certified, Pre-Owned computer solutions, we know that all components required to configure a network may not be desirable or available using off-lease hardware. For example, it may be best to use a new server and Certified, Pre-Owned machines for workstations.
